BIG BLUE MACAW
2018
The result of an interesting commission the Macaw float comprises of four segments that can bolt on to a rickshaw to make a carnival float.
Using similar techniques to previous 'lantern projects' the head and tail can illuminate- revealing the textures in the paper skin.
The wings have a span of three meters- and can be locked into various positions depending on surroundings. The patterns (inspired by Keith Haring's 'body painting' series) were painted by local school children and carnival-goers.
The macaw marks the official start of 'Saigon Carnival' with hopes of future floats and a full-on procession.
